OVERVIEW: The David and Patricia Giuliani Family Foundation funds grantmaking related to health, community, environment and democracy. Western states are a geographic priority.

IP TAKE: The David and Patricia Giuliani Family Foundation does not name geographic priorities, but most of its grantmaking stays in the western states of Washington, Oregon and Idaho, where it supports a mix of health, economic and community development causes. Proposals are accepted by invitation only, but according to its contact page, the foundation is “always interested in connecting with good people.” Reach out with questions and ideas.

PROFILE: Established in Seattle in 2011, the David and Patricia Giuliani Family Foundation was founded by the late businessman David Giuliani and his late wife, Patricia. David Giuliani graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara, where he studied electrical engineering, in 1968 and then attended Stanford University. He was a section manager at Hewlett Packard a cofounder of Optiva. However, he is best known as the co-inventor of the Sonicare sonic toothbrush. Another company that he co-founded, the Clarisonic Company, was sold to L’Oreal in 2011.

Currently steered by the founders’ children, the Giuliani Family Foundation pursues a simple mission to “help people live better lives.” Grantmaking supports health, education, human services, community development and environmental causes. Giving is national in scope but prioritizes Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
