About 7,600 grantmakers made grants for Washington D.C. in 2019 alone, according to Candid. Many of these grants came through donor-advised fund managers. Members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtongrantmakers.org\/\">Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers<\/a> (WRAG) gave more than $255 million locally in 2018, the most recent year on which the association has reported.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!-- Non-displaying inline paywall marker. Partly fueled by the national reckoning around systemic racism in the wake of the murder of George Floyd by police in 2020, equity has been a growing focus of Washington D.C. grants in recent years. Several D.C.-focused foundations are <a href=\"https:\/\/meyerfoundation.org\/publications\/maximizing-the-moment-investing-in-power-building-to-advance-racial-justice-in-metropolitan-washington-dc\/\">collaborating<\/a> to advocate for funding of community organizing and racial justice work. WRAG launched a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtongrantmakers.org\/racial-equity\">Racial Equity Working Group<\/a> in 2017.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Important Washington D.C. grantmakers include the <a href=\"https:\/\/insidephilanthropy.com\/washington-dc-grants\/greater-washington-community-foundation\">Greater Washington Community Foundation<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/insidephilanthropy.com\/washington-dc-grants\/morris-and-gwendolyn-cafritz-foundation\">Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/unitedwaynca.org\/\">United Way of the National Capital Area<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/insidephilanthropy.com\/grants-c\/annie-e-casey-foundation\">Annie E. Casey Foundation<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/insidephilanthropy.com\/grants-c\/a-james-amp-alice-b-clark-foundation\">A. James and Alice B.
