Giving Trends in Nevada
Nevada was home to 1,668 foundations that collectively gave more than $396.2 million in grants in 2019, according to Philanthropy Southwest and Candid. This is about twice as many foundations than are based in nearby Arizona, but their combined giving was around two-thirds as much as Arizona grantmakers gave that year. Foundations based outside of Nevada gave a total of $53.8 million in grants for Nevada organizations in 2019, Candid reports.
Nevada foundations for nonprofits appear to prioritize education, health, and human services, according to joint reporting by the regional association of grantmakers Philanthropy Southwest and Candid. Children and youth, and economically vulnerable, are the leading populations that Nevada grants aim to address.
The top funders of Nevada grants are a mix of private, family, community, and corporate foundations. Leading Nevada grantmakers include the Skip Viragh Foundation, Troesh Family Foundation, MGM Resorts Foundation, Community Foundation of Western Nevada, Nevada Community Foundation, James E. and Beverly Rogers Educational Foundation, Dave and Cheryl Duffield Foundation, United Way of Southern Nevada, and Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation.
