OVERVIEW: The Rosso Family Foundation primarily funds grantmaking related to education, health, human services, youth, and the arts.

PROFILE: Established in 2011, the Rosso Family Foundation was established by businessman Lou Rosso and his wife Maura. Lou Rosso is chairman emertius of Beckman Coulter, which develops, manufactures and markets products that simplify, automate and innovate complex biomedical testing. The foundation does not maintain a website, limiting information available on its grantmaking priorities and activities. According to tax filings, the Rosso Family Foundation primarily funds grantmaking related to education, health, human services, youth, and the arts.

Grants for Los Angeles and SoCal

Lou Rosso is on the board of trustees of St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare Foundation. He is a former board member of Harvey Mudd College in Claremont and trustee emeritus of the Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences at the Claremont Colleges, which the family supports.

Grants range from $500 to $54,000. In a recent fiscal year, the foundation gave away around $500,000. Past grantees have included USC Marshall School of Business; Diegueno Esteem Foundation, which supports Diegueno Country School, an elementary school; Casa de Amparo, which deals with child abuse; and San Diego Symphony.
